cial and economic benefits ac-
cr uing to Arabs who elect to re-
main in Israel were detailed in
a dispatch from New York Times
co; respondent Gene Currivan
from Tel Aviv.
Commenting on the Arab evac-
uation to the Falluja area, Cur-
rivan says that if these people
had been aware of what the Is-
raelis have done and plan to do
for their Arab fellow-citizens,
they would not have been "so
easily stampeded into leaving the
country."

ing and their archives re-as-
sembled under a special commit-
tee working for the restoration of
the holy places," Currivan writes.
"There is a sub-committee for
Arab food control, which gives
preference to Arab merchants
serving Arab areas.
"Ten consumers cooperatives
have been organized in towns
such as Jaffa, Acre and Lydda.
Four dollars and fifty cents daily
are being paid to Arab workers,
against the previous scale of one
dollar and sixty cents. There are
social welfare programs operat-
ing now, and hospital clinics set-
aside for Arabs with Arab and
Israeli doctors working side by
side.
, "There is an ambulance service
to remote Arab sections, and mo-
bile clinics that reach every dis-
tant Arab farm. Six thousand
Arab children are attending 55
schools under a budget of almost
$250,000. Jaffa has its own
Aiabie newspaper and the Is-
raeli radio station transmits Arab
news items and programs daily."

Bnai Brith sends a million dollars' worth of food to Israel. It
consisted of 2,500,000 cans, collected by the New York Metro-
politan Council of Bnai Brith. This was part of the order's
national project, "Aid to the People of Israel," through which
nearly $4,000,000 worth of food, clothing, medical supplies and
automotive equipment has been sent to Israel by lodges and
chapters throughout the country. Detroit contributed $473,000
in materials and food. B. B. leaders are shown aboard the 'Isle

dollars' worth of food sailed.

surveys on town planning for the

TEL AVIV—(ZOA)—A surve
of the Histradrut's department of
education disclosed that 27,000
children had been registered at
Histadrut schools for the present
school year. As compared with
last year, this represents an in- ' 1
crease of 2,000 pupils.
The Histadrut's educational
network comprises 190 kinder-
gartens. 133 elementary schools,
18 secondary and vocational
schools, and two teachers' train-
ing colleges. Over 1,500 teachers
are employed at Histadrut
