2,000 Volunteers
Await 'The Day'

Two thousand workers in gen-

eral solicitation of the Women's

Division of the Allied Jewish

Campaign have received their

kits and instructions and are

making final plans for Sunday,

April 24 which is 'The Day." Ar-
rangements are under the chair-
manship of Mrs. William B. Is-
enberg, with planning being
handled by Mrs. Harry L. Jones.

"The Day" will be the one day
when workers in general solici-
tation will cover over 14,000 slips
of prospective contributors to the
one drive that provides funds for
over 50 local. national and over-
seas causes. Every Jewish wom-
an in Detroit is asked either to
register as a solicitor or remain
at home to make her pledge to
the worker who will call tin her.

ADVENTURE AT FOX
"Down to the Sea in Ships," an
adventure story of the great
whaling days. will open at the
Fox theater Thursday. The film
stars Richard Widmark, Lionel
Barrymore and Dean Stockwell.

year, and the dinner is spon-
sored by the Detviit Round Table
of Catholics, Jews and Protes-
tants.
Cohen, past president of Dis-
trict Grand Lodge 6 of Bnai
Brith, is a Chicago attorney and
was a federal referee in bank-
ruptcy. At present, he is chair-
man of the district committee on
Americanism.
The Greater Detroit Bnai Brith
Council will be represented by
Louis Barden, chairman.

Art Exhibit
On at Center

Henry Bernstein and Ben Yo-

men, Detroit artists, are exhibit-

ing their paintings and drawings

at the Center through April 26.

The exhibit is being sponsored by

the Center art committee.

Women's Division, American
Jewish Congress announces a
project for the establishment of
a youth hostel in Israel as a mem-
orial to Louise Waterman Wise.
Many contributions have already
been received, the first being
gifts received by Dr. Stephen S.
Wise towards the establishment
of a memorial in honor of his
wife.
The hostel will be conducted
under the auspices of the youth
bureau of Ishel's department of
education. Funds to build and
support the hostel will be raised
exclusively among members of
American Jewish Congress.
