Hall of Fame

IN THE FORTHCOMING elec-

tions to be conducted among the
nation's leaditig sportswriters, it
appears almost certain that the
name of Hank Greenberg will be
immortalized in baseball's Hall
of Fame.
The former Detroit slugger
ended his playing days at the
conclusion of the 1947 season,
which made him eligible for
nomination to baseball's highest
honor.
It is a fitting tribute to Hank,
who, in addition to being one of
the two most dangerous right-
handed sluggers of all time
(Jimmy Foxx was the other
one), received only plaudits from
the press during his long and ex-
emplary career.
