I;uilty Escape Punishment British Condone Aden Pogrom LONDON (Special)—The fact that British officials not only condone anti-Semitism in others but that hate permeates the ranks of British officialdom was evident from an investigation of the Aden pogrom. Sir Harry Trusted, a former chief justice of Palestine, was appointed a commission of one to investigate the pogrom. • His report is dated April 7, 1948 but was not made public until about six months later. This report revealed, among other things, that on the first day of the outbreaks, Dec. 2, 1947, "the district commissioner and a British officer with a num- ber of Aden Protectorate Levies (soldiers) toured the streets but took no apparent steps to stop the mobs and thereby gave them encouragement to increase their attacks," according to the evidence submitted by Mr. Ba- nin, chairman of the Jewish Emergency Committee. A major event of the Detroit Chapter of Hadassah will be an all-day institute Tuesday, Jan. 11, at the Center. Entitled "Gold- en Treasures," the program will highlight the heritage of the peo- ple of Israel in art and literature. Mrs. Moses P. Epstein, former Hadassah national president and its present political chairman, will be the speaker.
