Mizrachi to Revive Custom Liebman Not Forgotten ICongregatton
, in N.Y. Honors
of Pilgrimages to Holy Land
Mrs. Lazarus

NEW YORK — The ancient
Biblical tradition of pilgrimage
to shrines in the Holy City and
the Holy Land prior to the three
major Jewish religious festivals
in the Hebrew holiday calendar
will be revived this year for the

first time in 2,000 years by the
Mizrachi Organization of Amer-
ica which is inaugurating guided
holiday pilgrimages to Israel,
it was announced by Leon Gell-
man, national Mizrachi president.
Known in the Scriptures as
"Olei Regel," holiday pilgrimages
which in Biblical times were
made before the festivals of
Passover, Shavuoth (the Feast of
Weeks), and Succoth (the Feast
of Tabernacles) this revived tra-
dition in the form of a guided
tour throughout the Holy Land
under Mizrachi auspices will be-
gin this year with the first con-
tingent of religious-Zionists and
American Jews leaving by chart-
ered plane for Israel before the
Passover season, - (which starts

FLY TO ISRAEL
The tour is being arranged in
cooperation with the World Miz-
rachi headquarters in Jerusalem,
the Israeli government, and the
Modern Tours Company, 27 Canal
Street, which will provide pas-
senger accommodations aboard
plane and which has already
prepared hotel facilities for the
Mizrachi "pilgrims."
According to present plans, the
Mizrachi president reported, the
tourists will arrive in the Holy
Land to spend their first Passover
season visiting sacred Jewish
shrines, and thereafter will be
conducted by representatives of
the Mizrachi movement and the
Israeli gavernment throughout
the Holy Land, visiting new set-
tlements, the Negev and the
Galil, Jeruslaem, Tel Aviv and
Haifa.
Arrangements are being made
for regular tours following the
Passover holidays, during which
Mizrachi members will be en-
abled to spend from a week to a
month in the Holy Land, leaving

by plane or ship, and traveling
straight to Israel or stopping ov-
er in Europe for a short guided

visit.

As the Joshua Loth Liebman memorial fund campaign opened
in Boston, Hotel Somerset employes paid a touching tribute
to the late Rabbi, author of "Peace of Mind," who made his
home there. Bellhop Joseph Shutt, above, on behalf of the em-
ployes, presents a gift to the campaign at the opening dinner.
Dr. Solomon Goldman, principal speaker, shakes hands with
Shutt, while Max Feldberg, co-chairman of the $1,000,000 drive,
looks on.
