dle that you light be the symbol

and ni ay all
your dreams
and hopes f o r
the future
come true .
Before we
get into the
fun, there a r e
two serious
things which have come to our
attention. First, we learn with
sadness that the Central Student
is struggling for its very exist-
ence.
There is only one more issue
left this term and the past se-
mester's editors have done a won-
derful job. Willard Gold and Ed
London have had to do more than
their snare of the work while the
sponsor, Spencer Fishbaine was
ill.
We feel that we express the
feelings of the entire Central
High student body when we hope
and pray that Mr. Fishbaine will
be back with us this corning Jan-
uary.

YOU'VE ALL been very proud
of the Student for many years,
and you have not been the only
ones. Central's paper has been
given an "A" rating since 1937.
The problerhs at hand is that a
change in the Student's policy has
been suggested and that there are
people who are trying to force
this change. By that we Mean:
Until now it has been the policy
of the Student to have a liberal
editorial policy which represents
all views of current subjects.

WHAT IS GOING ON outside
of our school has been empha-
sized in the Student, UMT, the
Marshall Plan, ERP, foreign pol-
icy questions, the elections and
speakers on important "Subjects.
This helped us all to realize what
is happening in offr world.
Lately, too, there has been talk
about family living courses
which many high schools are al-
ready offering, and the Student
reporters would like to discuss
these issues, too. But no, people
are now trying to stop this policy
of the paper. They would like to
limit Student coverage to activ-
ities of the school and the alumni.
Our opinion is that we can not
take our places rightfully in the
world,-only because we graduate
from high school. We must be
prepared, and we think the school
paper is a means of accomplish-
