ADMISSION DELAYED

In Paris, meantime, it was a
tossup on whether Israel's appli-
cation for admission into the
UN would be acted upon before
the Assembly session ends Sat-
urday. The membership commit-
tee of the Security Council re-
ferred Israel's bid back to the
Council without any recom-
mendation.
Argentina, unexpectedly, came
out for Israel, and there was
some hope that if the Jewish
State could pick up two votes
from among Canada, Belgium
and France, the Council would
approve the application. Time,
however, was working against
Jewish chances.

VIE FOR CROWN

Main social event of the con-
clave will be the election of a
queen for the crown of "Miss
Michigan Region," to reign at
the tourney's night club affair.
Each chapter is electing a
"sweetheart" to vie for the title.
Chairman Barry Levine and
Sidney Rubenstein announce that
girls from 14 to 17 may be
candidates for the crown. Names
and pictures of contestants must
be submitted to them by Dec. 15.

No attention was paid to the
deadline according to Saul
Katz, president of the hospital
group. Ile phoned Sobeloff, he
said, and was again put off. His
group intends to force the Fed-
eration to live up to its obli-
gation to the association, Katz
emphasized.

BBG's headed by Ilene Sabin,
and AZA, headed by Lionel
Friedman, will be hosts at
luncheons for the participants
during the tourney, and Dnai
Brith women will provide snacks.
To encourage attendance of
all Alephs, the Detroit-Windsor
council of AZA has set up a loan
fund to help cover part of the
registration fee.

The Assembly's political com-
mittee has adopted a resolution
calling for a conciliation com-
mission to "take steps to assist
