Northwest to Begin
Classes for Adults

The adult study institute of the
Northwest Hebrew Congregation
will start its third season Tues-
day evening, Sam Bez, chairman,
announced. -
Rabbi Jacob E. Segal will of-
fer a class on the Bible and lec-
tures on "Living as a Jew" and
"Gems of Modern Jewish Litera-
ture" on the first and third Tues-
day evenings of the month, start-
ing at 8:30.
Each Tuesday night, at 7:30
and 8:30, Mrs. Herzl Saperstein

stitute is open to non-members

of admissions and field activities
for the Hebrew Union College in
Cincinnati, will confer with key
Jewish leaders in Detroit Thurs-
day, Dec. 9 on the nationwide
need for Rabbis to serve in lib-
eral Jewish congregations.
He will also interview pros-
pective students of the Hebrew
Union College and the Jewish
Institute of Religion, the New
York seminary with which the
college was recently merged.

Cycle ol the Jew" Dr. Horace N.
Miner, associate professor of soc-
iology and anthropology at the
University of Michigan, will
speak at 9 p.m., Tuesday, in
Shaarey Zedek.
Dr. Miner served as a consult-
ant to the National Resources
Planning Board and was a lieu-
tenant colonel in army intelli-
gence during the war.
His topic will be "The Family
