Vote 'NO' on No. 6
We earnestly urge a "NO" vote on pro-
posal number 6 in the Nov. 2 elections.
The proposal would give public •indorse-
Inept to the vicious Callahan Act, legis-
lation which is a direct threat to the lib-
erties of the American people.
The Callahan Act would require all per-
sons and organizations sympathetic to for-
eign countries to register with the state
attorney general. It has been charged that
any foreign relief group, fraternal organi-
zation, foreign language society, religious
body or cultural group with ties. to a
foreign country would be forced to register
as "foreign agents".
Under this heading would come such na-
tional organizations as OJT, the Zionist
Organization of America, Iladassah, the
Ilistadrut and even local landsmanshaften
groups. -
.Whatever merits the bill might have as
an alleged weapon against subversive forces
in the state would be offset by the stigma
attached to democratic American groups
with links to foreign lands.
To bar this unconstitutional, fascistic-
measure, vote "NO" on proposal number 6.
Time Should He Ashamed

alecky, mischievous articles on Israel. That

sassination. -•

escapes from prison right under the noses
of the well-trained British guards who cer-
tainly had no reason to liberate Jewish
prisoners.
The Tint story was not only ignorant;
it was vicious. It was written that way
deliberately at a time when the UN is con-
sidering whether Israel is strong enough
to rule itself and•to fulfill its international
commitments.
It was meant to damage the Jewish
cause.
Time should be ashamed of itself.
No Quotas at Brandeis U.
There will be no restrictions or quotas
at Brandeis University, first Jewish spon-
sored, non-sectarian institution of higher
learning in America.
And that is significant because there
aren't very many colleges which do not
have some kind of restrictions because
of color, race or creed. Even state and
municipally owned universities have tacit
reservations on the number of Jewish or
Negro or Catholic students who can enter
and, once in, can be graduated.
There is nothing overt there that one
can point to, but many an administration
and faculty have an unspoken understand-
ing that just so .many of this or that group
shall be matriculated and finally graduated
and no more.

Dear Editor:
In the light of your fine edi-
