Scholarships Go

Campaigning for reelection as
councilman, Fred C. Castator has
opened political headquarters at
906-7 Hammond Bldg.
Castator has the indorsement
of business groups, labor and
veterans. He served for four
years as a member of the council
and as a Wayne County super-
visor,
Castator urges slum clearance,
low rental housing, riverfront
drive development, and better
service at less cost for Detroit
street railway riders. His 22
years with the DSR has familiar-
ized him with practical public
transportation.

Three new scholarship . loans
have been awarded to_ medical
students under the Lee and Ella
Weinberg Scholarship F u n d,
which is administered jointly by
the Jewish Welfare Federation
and the Phi Delta Epsilon medi-
cal fraternity.
The grants this year total $1,.
575' and were made to two
Wayne University students and
another attending the University
of Michigan.
The scholarship was estab-
lished by Mr. and Mrs. Wein.
berg in 1947 to assist junior and
senior medical students who are
residents of the Detroit metro-
politan area.
Under the terms of the schol-
arship, Mr. and Mrs. Weinberg
have expressed hope that they
will be able to make an annual
grant of $1,200 so that worthy
students nay continue to re-
ceive such assistance.

to Debate Israel

Meeting of the Air" at 8:30 p.m.,

Jewish case against Dr. Walter
L. Wright, Jr., professor of Tur-
kish languages and history at

Congress Protests
Bernadotte Plan

In a letter to the Secretary
of State Marshall, Albert J.
Silber, president of the Ameri-
can Jewish Congress state coun-
cil, lodged a vigorous protest at
the American indorsement in
