ment and auxiliary at a Tiger
baseball game, Sept. 29 at Briggs
Stadium. After the game, George
Ernest of the Belcrest Hotel was

MEMBERS OF the Israeli soc-
cer team were given a rousing

New York for their U.S. debut
Sept. 26 against the American
Olympic squad.
However, on the playing field,
the Yanks weren't quite so hos-

Colorful Parade

'• IMPRESSIVE ceremonies pre-
ceded the contest. Led by the
N.Y. police department band
and a Jewish War Veterans col-
or guard, the Israeli and Ameri-
can players paraded around the
field before the raising of the
flags of both nations and the
singing of the national anthems.
As for the game, it might be
well to say that the Israelim
walked on the field after but
one day's practice. They weren't
outplayed too greatly by the
Americans, but had trouble with
their shots.

Thrilling Play

AN OTHERWISE dismal af-
ternoon for New York University
against Cornell was offset some-
what by a spectacular play in-
volving halfback Jerry Eisen-
man and end Iry Mondschein.
With five seconds remaining in
the first quarter, Eiserntan shot
an 18-yard pass to Mondschein,
who scooted 68 yards down the
sideline, evading two would-be
tacklers, to score NYU's only
touchdown. Cornell won, 47 to
6.
