membership meeting of Branch
No. 4, Labor Zionist Organiza-
tion, Friday evening. Oct. 8, at

Sidney Shevitz, chairman of
the Detroit Zionist Council, will
report on the recommendations of
the Zionist Council in light of
the American stand on the Ber-
nadotte Plan.

WARREN' ROVETCII has been
awarded the Ruskin Scholar-
ship for study at Oxford Uni-
versity and is en route to Eng-
land on the S. S. Mauretania.
A graduate of Wayne Univer-
sity, Rovetch was a leading
figure in student activities
there. He represented Wayne
at the international student
conference in 1946 at Prague.
He is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Ben Rovetch of Oakman court.

In its first general meeting
for 1948-49, the Junior Service
Group will hold court at 2:30
p.m., Sunday, Oct. 10, at the
Jewish Community Center in a
"trial" to determine whether the
Jewish community has been der-
elict in meeting any of its re-
sponsibilities. ,
Dr. Sam Krohn, program
chairman, will preside. Sol J.
Schwartz, will be defense at-
torney, Lawrence A. Fleischman,
clerk, and among the witnesses
will be Mrs. Samuel S. Aaron,
Leonard Baruch, Mort6n Good-
man, Henry , Ehrlich, Mrs.
Charles Lakoff, Harry Mirvis,
Selma Sampliner and Shirley
Simons.
The Detroit community will
be charged with having failed
to provide sufficient young
adult recreational facilities, good
quality education facilities, suffi-
cient leadership for club work
with youngsters and other social
needs, while the defense will
present a review of accomplish-
ments of the community in these
areas.
