Polish Army Wars
on Anti-Semitism

Given Equal Rights

WARSAW— A serious attempt
eradicate anti-Jewish feeling
is being made by Polish military
authorities. In the new "Army
Manual for Political Education,"
a special chapter is devoted to
the advisability of eliminating
this feeling from the new Polish
army.
The soldier is told that Jews
have the "fullest right" to be
considered equal citizens with
non-Jews.

and later in the Polish divisions
that were formed under officers
of the new Polish government.
It mentions the names of many

Dr. Shapiro that "a patient's at-

Israeli Women
Hailed for Role.
in War Effort

NEW YORK—A month's stay
in Israel has convinced Mrs. Is-
rael Goldstein, president of Pio-
neer Women, the Women's Labor
Zionist Organization of America,
that were it not for the remark-
able work of the women of Is-
rael, the war effort of the fledg-
ling nation could not have suc-
ceeded.
"The usefulness of women is
evident everywhere in the coun-
try," she said. "They drive jeeps
and tractors, work in factories,
are shoemakers and carpenters,
and do every kind of work that
men do, insofar as their physical
strength permits."
Mrs. Goldstein went to Israel
expressly to see the results of
the funds that • Pioneer Women
have been pouring into the Jew-
ish State in the form of chil-
dren's institutions, training farms
and immigrant women's centers.
"Whenever a boatload of im-
migrants arrive, we meet them
at the dock, accompany them to
the reception camp, and help
them in their temporary estab-
lishment," she said. "Then we
open a Bet Olot—a house for im-
migrant women—where they live
until they are ready to be on
their own."
In the Bet Olot at Petah Tik-
vah meat. Tel Aviv, Mrs. Gold-
stein revealed, the women oper-
ate a huge dining room which is
open to people in the town. The
kitchen also supplies 170 meals
daily for soldiers at a convales-
cent hospital nearby.
