Sopmsticates

By HELEN TENNENBAUM
"THERE'S A TREE in the
Meadow" sounds mighty
nice, and makes us think of
these lovely days when the
leaves are falling and we take
our brisk walks to school.
We're sort
of glad, after
all, that school
has started. It's
our chance for
fun and study.
and we hope
that you've all
decided also to
make this the
most enjoyable
term you've
ever spent in
Helen
school or college.
Speaking of college Lewis
Watnik and Larry Greenberg
have left us for the west coast
and UCLA. Diane Goldman has
departed for her first year at
Trinity College in San Antonio,
Tex., while sister Ilean is spend-
ing a vacation in New York
City before resuming her stud-
ies at Michigan State
• • •
MILFORD SINGER had a
great time in South Haven and
Chicago . Tobye Goldman
and Ruthie Friedberg have
wonderful memories of their last
vacation days in Charlevoix ...
We are sure you'll all miss
Mary Gottlieb who has moved
to Flint.
• • •
MORE ABOUT PEOPLE you
know . . . Evelyn Grossman,
Diane Katz and Joan Lewis said
Charlevoix was swell . . . Off
for a year or so to help Uncle
Sam are Bill Walk, Al Sief, Al
Colburn, Mike Elias and Floyd
Harris • . Joining soon are
Mert Colburn and Jordan Gil-
bert. You'll be missed by those
left home, men .. .

other time as our homework
seems to be growing.
Speaking of clubs most of the
SWAKS from Durtee were on
vacation, Barbara Mandel is
back from a tour of Cleveland
and Canada. Grace Wuntner was
at Crystal Beach, Ont., while
Joan Barnett spent her time in
New York.
Arlane Colbert was out at her
cottage at Elisabeth Lake, and
Esther Dietch invited friends to
visit her in Leamington . . .
Leila Camens has just returned
from Pennsylvania.

eve, she was greeted by her
escort, Hal Reiger, lielyn Gross
with Morty Silverman, Lois Co-
hen with Ed Foon, Janis Lutz
with Harvey Rosenberg, Milly
Berg and Hal Singer and Bar-
bara Pollack with Hal Goodman.
As the eve was quite warm
some preferred the cool breeze
on the porch: Betty Jean Klee,
Wally Singer, Madeline Imber,
Diane Katz, Dave Newman, Lor-
etta Winick, Herb Fine, Sue
Miller, Jerry Gaul and Mel
Woolf.

A GROUP WHO'LL long re-
member their vacation were the
fellows and girls who won
scholarships to the week's ses-
sion at Big Eagle Zionist Camp,
in Zionsville, Ind. Included were
Glen (president of the North-
west Juniors) Goldstrom, Ilene
Rosen, Joyce Kaplan, Audrey
Gelfand, Fern Metz and Davida
Robinson.

BEFORE WE LEAVE, we'd
BARBARA POLLACK cele- like to wish that sweet gal Bette
brated her Sweet Sixteen at a
luncheon in the Terrace Room
of the Statler. Sonic of the gals
looking mighty pretty as they
took their places were Madeline
Imber, Vivian Lipsitz, Helyn
Gross, Lois Cohen, Ev Gross-
man, Adelle Rotman, and Sue
Miller

ATTENTION GALS! Now is
the time when you'll begin to
look daffy while your prospec-
tive sorority sisters put you
through just about every incon-
venience they can think of, but,
after all, it's worth it.
To start things off, the Chi
Epsilon girls will hold their an-
nual rush tea at Sue Miller's
home on Roslyn road . . .
