Max Krell is leaving for the
Greenbier in White Sulphur
Springs for the convention of
the N.Y. Life Insurance Co. Top
Club Council.
Mrs. Krell left last week for
Evansville, Ind., to visit her son-
in-law and daughter, Mr. and
Mrs. Charles Vannes, who be-
came parents recently of the
Krells' first grandson. Mr. Krell
will join them later.

`Monte Carlo Nile'
Slated for Sept. 18

Mr. and Mrs. Jules Hackman,
Mr. and Mrs. Irving Stern, Mr.
and Mrs. Michale Greene, Mr.
and Mrs. Samuel Baker and Mr.
and Mrs. Don Wexler have re-
turned after a week's stay in
Boyne City.

Doris Karmann of Cortland
avenue has returned from a va-
cation in South Haven.

Mr. and Mrs. 4,ving Green-
span and family, formerly of
Chicago boulevard, are residing
at 16180 Wildemere avenue.

Mr. and Mrs. Louis Landsberg
of Roselawn avenue are spend-
ing the week in Chicago.

Mrs. William Adelson of Phil-
adelphia avenue west has re-
turned from a visit in Boyne
City. She was accompanied by
her sons, Irwin and Seymour.

Aids Zedakah Club

MRS. PAUL DEUTCII is chair-
man of the fashion show and
dessert luncheon of the Zeda-
kah Club Monday, Sept. 27,
at the Cent: r. The event will
be open to the public. The
club plans a meeting for Mon-
day at the home of Mrs. John
Stalburg, 2989 Buena Vista
avenue.

Plans for the 1948-49 social
season of the Philip Handler
Lodge, Bnai Brith, have been an-
nounced by David Cuss, pro-
gram chairman.
First event will be a "Monte
Carlo Nite" Sept. 18, with pro-
ceeds earmarked for the Aid to
the People of Israel Drive.
On Sept. 28 a membership in-
stallation and card party will
be held, while an Anti-Defama-
tion League evening is schedul-
ed for Oct. 26.
Charles Levy will speak on
Nov. 9 on the Bnai Brith Young
Organization, and a card and
feather party will take place
Nov. 23.
The lodge will wind up the
year with a Chanukah party,
Dec. 28.

Tall Towers Await
Ilayride on Saturday

Tall Towers will hold a hay-
ride party at 7:30 p. m., Satur-
day. Starting point is 4031 Bue-
na Vista avenue. For informa-

Gerald K. O'Brien
Seeks Reelection

Gerald K. O'Brien, former pros-
ecuting attorney of Wayne
County, is a candidate for re-
election to that office on the
Democratic ticket.
O'Brien, son of the beloved
Judge Patrick II. 0 Brien, has a
long record of service in public
office, as deputy attorney general
of Michigan, assistant prosecutor
and prosecuting attorney.
Gerald K. O'Brien points with
pride to his record as prosecut-
ing attorney in 1945-46.
People of all types, without
regard to national origin, appre-
ciated O'Brien's honest and fair
law enforcement, and realized,
during O'Brien's tenure of office,
the benefits of a thorough, sci-
entific investigation of crime by
an honest and sincere prosecutor.
Detroit Jewry is especially in-
debted to him because in April,
1948, O'Brien, as co-chairman
with Judge 0. Z. Ide, headed a
delegation of Detroit lawyers to
Lake Success to meet with War-
ren R. Austin, chief delegate to
the United Nations, to present
their protest against abandon-
ment of the UN Assembly's de-
cision to partition Palestine.

North Woodward
to Meet Tuesday

North Woodward Branch of
the JEWO will meet at 12:30
p.m., Tuesday at the home of its
president, Mrs. Albert Kurzman,
3387 Cortland avenue.
Other officers of the organiza-
tion are Mrs. Sadie Bienenfeld,
Mrs. Rose Cowan and ,Mrs. Jack
Rothbard, vice-presidents; Mrs.
Aaron Green, treasurer; and
Mrs. Lena Kaplan and Mrs.
Lewis Levin, secretaries.
The club's annual donor event
is set for Dec. 14.

Sabbath Group to Sec
Israeli Film at Meeting

The film, "Assignment, Tel
Aviv," will be . shown at the
meeting of the Twelfth Street
branch of the Women's League
for Sabbath Observance, at
12:30 p.m., Tuesday, in Beth Te-

A membership tea will be the
opening gathering of the Career
Group of the National Council
of Jewish Women Sept. 21 at the
home of Mrs. Jack Rothenberg,

The Career Group program is
directed toward young business-
women interested in a program
of social and cultural activities
while participating in national
council projects.
The group assists at Twelfth
Street Center and on committees
for overseas aid.

The Young People's Club of
Temple Beth El, under the lead-
ership of Ilarvey Freeman, plans
a variety of social, religious and
cultural activities.
Freeman, who assumed the
presidency upon the departure
of Cornell Janeway from the
city, announces the following
