QUESTION: Should Israel agree
M any reduction in its area
in return for Arab recognition
during the peace negotiations
Maw going on?
MRS. MELVIN SCHNEIDER,

housewife.
Now that the, Jews have been
given a State, they should hang
on to every inch of it.
They have
been making
concessions for
2,000 years and
it has brought
them
nothing
but grief.
They cannot
g o backward
any more.
Actually
there is no
need f a r Is-
rael to give' up any territory.
The UN is in back of the Jew-
/oh State and can, I think, bring
enough pressure to bear to make
the Arabs stop fighting.

NEW YORK—Gen. John H.

tative to the U.N. General As-
sembly, and James G. McDon-

of the Anglo-American Commis-
sion of Inquiry on Palestine,
will be among the principal
speakers at the 51st annual con-

delegates. including 25 Detroit-

health, recently turned down
the appointment as special as-
sistant to Secretary of State
Marshall in charge of Palestine
affairs, is scheduled to speak at
the formal opening of the four-
day sessions Saturday night, July
3. This session will feature the
presidential address by Dr.

Dr. Neumann in arr interview
asserted that "the terms of the
truce as Count Bernadotte final- •

nite departure from the resolu-
tion of the United Nations Se-

U.N. mediator was "influenced
to attempt this departure by the
Arabs, who have been advised
by the British."
Replying to a question wheth-

Count Bernadotte was working
with the British,. the ZOA presi-

possible that the British are be-

conniving with them."

WASHINGTON (Special) —
Jewish leaders have asked
President Truman to veto the
bill for the admission of more
than 200,000 Displaced Persons
because of its discriminatory-
features.
"The bill is an exclusionist
measure, not a measure to adroit
DP's," Henry Epstein, chairman
of the National Community 'Re-
lations 'Advisory Council said.
"It constitutes a cruel hoax up-
on the hundreds of thousands of
DP's who look to the U.S. for
aid. The racist character of the
bill must cause all decent Amer-
icans to feel the deepest shame."
Jewish leaders charged that
fewer than 10,000 Jews would
be admitted under the bill and
that it favors pro-Nazi Volks-
deutche and Baits who partici
gated in the slaughteL of mil-
lions of Jews.
Jewish spokesman hoped that
the bill would he killed by Mr.
Truman so as to permit the
passage of a friendlier measure
in the next session of Congress.
