TEL AVIV, Israel — (World
News Services) — A liaganah
guard told a reporter of "Haar-
etz":
"At dawn I was on my way
from guard duty. I met an old
man carrying his Tallis and Te-
phillin bag. He stopped me, held
on to my hands and said: 'Bless
me, my brother.'
"I refused: 'What will my
blessing do you? You are now
on the way. to prayers while I
am going to sleep . .
"But the old man was ada-
mant: 'You are more important
than I. You are fulfilling the
commands of God with all your
heart, all your soul and all your
life. I have not reached that
stage of piety yet ..
"What could I do?" said the
guard to the reporter. "I had
to bless him, and since then Ha-
ganah work in 10 times dearer
is me."
