BULLETIN

By FRANK BECKMAN

NEWS. around the
Big Nine's baseball circuit
last week wasn't that Michigan
and Illinois had tied for the
championship.
It was that Marvin Rotblatt,
brilliant Illini
southpaw, had
finally lost a
Western C o n-
ference game.
This is not
surprising
when you con-
sider the fact
that Rotblatt is
just about the
best pitcher
Beckman
ever to toe a
Big Nine slab.
He has been the Illini's ace
hurler for three years and had
lost only one contest (non-con-
ference) during his tenure.
That's why just about every-
one was dazed when Ohio State
clubbed him for 10 hits and a
6-0 victory.
A little guy, Rotblatt has been
dishing out two, three and four-
hitters with amazing consistency.
Observers believe he is sure-fire
big league material, and scouts
have not let him slip past their
eyes.
His signature on a contract
will be the goal of just about
every major league timber seek-
er.
