Ex-Detroiter Sees
an 'Atomic Health'

EVANSVILLE, Ind.-A-former
Detroiter says he is convinced
that atomic energy can be put
to peaceful use-especially in
medicine.
Addressing a medical society
here, Dr. Morton Helper, now
of this city, said that radioactive
medical materials are already
available to properly qualified
and equipped staffs.
In fact, he revealed, "radio-
active isotypes have been avail-
able for medical purposes since
:932."
Dr. Helper explained their use
in treating such diseases as
breast tumors, thyroid disorders,
bone tumors, leukemia and poly-
cythemia.

THE ALMIGHTY showed ex-
treme displeasure when Morty
Fineblatt departed from his faith.
Morty wouldn't resist the sav-
ory appeal of ham and eggs in
a short-order restaurant. So he
ordered the great American
breakfast with a self - accusing
conscience.
As the cook sliced the ham a
terrific thunder storm broke, ac-
companied by blinding flashes of
lightning and ear-cracking
crashes of thunder. A whole
shelf of dishes was smashed as
they clattered to the floor.
"What a rumpus over one lit-

moaned the backsliding Mort.

Mundt-Nixon Bill lift
by Wayne Lawyers
Lawyers and judges of Wayne

County have issued a vehement
protest against the Mundt-Nixon
Bill, which places in the hands
of the Attorney General supreme
authority to declare any organ-
ization with whose political be-
liefs he may differ, un-American
or subversive.
"Under the guise of outlaw-
ing 'Communism,' the bill re-
quires the registration of one's
political beliefs, a concept whol-
!y at variance with our- Constitu-
tion and democratic tradition,"
the petition said.
