Use Arbitration
to Solve Problems

In Palestine, land of the
Bible, there is a symbiosis of
ancient and modern legal prac-
tices and customs, writes Dr.
Roman Pretzel of Tel Aviv
in the Arbitration Journal.
One of the ancient customs,
used both by Jews and Arabs,
is arbitration, Dr. Pretzel says.
He points out that Along
Arabs arbitration is known
mainly among the towns and
cities and is confined to matters
of commerce, property and in-
heritance. With Jews, he says,
it covers all activities.
A modern counterpart of this
Palestinian tradition, is found
in Detroit in the arbitration
committee of the Jewish Com-
munity Council.
