It was definitely a reminder to Marshall that a considerable section of official Republican public opinion in Washington would not enter into any kind of a shabby deal to betray the Jewish people to please the oil magnates of America and the Arabs, which was noised about so much throughout the last fortnight. If there were some politicians in Washington cynical hough to believe that they could bring about a deal between the two political parties for an open betrayal of the Jewish people and for the dishonoring of the promise of the American gov- ' ernment less than two months after it was Publicly made i s the world, they must haye been greatly disappointed by the events in the Capitol. ACCLAIMS STATE "I am happy that a Jewish State is about to be created," Dr. Stanszyk declared. "All free- dom loving people must fight to assure the implementation of the partition decision of the UN."
