Red Scare False,
Silver Declares
Predicts Decision
of UN to Prevail
NEW YORK (WNS) — Dr.
Abba Mlle! Silver, who just
returned from Palestine, de-
clared that the coming three
months will be the most crit-
ical with regard to Palestine
but that he was convinced that
the UN decision would stand.
Referring to the revival of
the scare about Communist in-
filtration into Palestine via
Jewish refugee ships, Dr. Silver
said that the propaganda ema-
nated. from British sources and
that such reports are wholly
untrue. He said all the immi-
grants• were carefully screened.
Arabs from neighboring
states were infiltrating into Pal-
estine and despite the alleged
British border control not a
single Arab has been 'arrested,
he charged.
Bevin, he said, is resolved to
sacrifice ' the Jewish State in
order to gain certain treaties
with the neighboring countries,
in which he is very much in-
terested "find which he is not
getting," Dr. Silver added.

ing coerced the UN into voting
for partition, It warned that
the Arabs would fight "any
force going to Palestine to par-
. tition the country".
One of the developments of
the week was the decision of the
Palestine Commission to deal
directly with London on the
question of the establishment
and training of separate Jewish
and Arab militias before Britain
evacuates the country. Sir Alex-
ander Cadogan, chief of the
British delegation, had previous-
ly rejected proposals for the
establishment of a militia.

Tel Aviv Editor Says Here
England is promoting a "blitz-
krieg" on the Yishuv, and help
from America must accordingly
be speedy, Abraham Goldrat,
editor of the Tel Aviv Hayesod
and general secretary of the
World Orthodox Labor Party
(PAI), declared in Detroit this
week. •
Goldrat, member of the five-
man Palestine mobilization com-
mittee, was here on behalf of
a campaign for funds to be
launched here by the religious
labor group.
SCOFFS AT RED TIE
He branded reports of pos-
sible Communist domination of
the Jewish State as a "Bevin
lie".
Communist power in Palestine
is zero", he asserted, "and even
the leftist Hashomer Hatzair,
linked in press reports to the
Communists, is not friendly to
the Communist ideology but is
veering towards Russia only be-
cause of its hatred of Britain"
"The Yishuv", he added, "is
confident that the UN will final-
ly bring peace to Eretz Israel,
but it realizes that the UN's
strength and influence can come
from the United States alone.
The Yishuv, therefore, turns to
this country for its salvation".
AID KIBBUTZIM
Goldrat was accompanied here
by Rabbi Moses Sheiff. They
will return to Detroit to push
their campaign to aid the de-
fense of the .orthodox•kibbut-
zim and the children's camps
the Agudath Israel is supporting.
Newcomers to Eretz arc not
being absorbed by the Jewish
communities like in normal
times, Goldrat pointed out, and
the Yishuv is hard-pressed to
support them in these turbu-
lent days.
Another objective of his visit,
he said, is to obtain machinery
for manufacture of goods in the
party settlements.
