PLACE: Dexter and Clairmount. QUESTION: you agree with Kermit Roosevelt that the cre- ation of a Jewish State in Pal- estine will increase anti-Se- mitism throughout the world? ISADORE STARR, 11633 Broad- street boulevard, attorney. No, I do not agree. The basis of Roosevelt's argument is that Jews will be accused of dual al- legiance — to their own country and to Palestine. This is false reason- ing. The Irish, for example, d i d not hesitate to establish a tate, and no ne can say that the ,Irish outside of Ireland are therefore poorer citizens of the land where they happen to dwell. Our own country is made up of a multitude of people with different origins. Yet none of them can be charged with being a poor American. I think the establishment of the Jewish State will decrease anti-Semitism. It will give the Jews prestige. S SAMUEL G. SHULMAN, 11331 Dexter boulevard, salesman. I do not agree with Kermit Roosevelt. The creation of a Jewish State will have the op- osite effect. It i 11 decrease ti-Semitism. Now Jews '11 be respect- ' as a people th a country. ley no long- • will have to t back and k e beatings en anti - Se- .ites. They are Do loi,6ee Uefenseless. By building a strong nation in Palestine, Jews can add to the betterment of the world. They can set an example as a free- dom-loving people and thereby gain the respect of non-Jews. SAM FREEDMAN, 2305 Chicago boulevard, real estate dealer and president of Congregation Bnai Moshe. I think Kermit Roosevelt is wrong. He is under the impres- sion that Jews will be accused of having a dual allegiance. Jews have al- ways been ex- tremely loyal to the country in which they lived, and I'ro sure everyone is aware of this. He believes that now that we have a State, Gentiles will tell us to go there. Just think what that would mean in the United States it everyone went back to his original country or the country of his forefathers. No one would be left.
