PHILADELPHIA (JTA) — A nation-wide campaign for $6,104,- 540 by the Joint Defense Appeal to finance the fight against anti- Semitism conducted by the American Jewish Committee and the Bnai Brith Anti-Defamation League was proclaimed here by some 600 delegates attending the second annual conference of the JDA, fund-raising arm of the committee and the league. Judge Joseph M. Proskauer, president of the committee, em- phasized that organized anti- Semitism is presently at a low point, but warned that it still re- mains a threat. A first hand report of the role played by women during the strife of Palestine will be made by Mrs. Simchonit, who comes as representative of the 70,000 wom- en organized into the Working Women's Council of Palestine. She is a member of the secre- triat of the council, of the ex- ecutive of Histadrut and of the Asefat Hanivcharim, Palestine's legislative assembly.. The Pioneer Women are in the midst of a $640,000 campaign on behalf of their sister organiza- tion, the Working Women's Council, which is carrying on a broad program of rehabilitation bf Jewish women, youth and children. To meet the needs of newly arriving immigrants, the council has established services for wom- en and children in hostels and immigrant camps, extended its vocational and agricultural train- ing facilities and launched the building of new children's homes in various parts of Palestine.
