Win AZA Honors

Chapter 337 came out on top
in the Aleph Zadik Aleph bowl-
ing tournamerit. held at the Jew-
ish Center as one of the fea-
ture events of the Michigan Re-
gional Tournament.

Yale Miller was high scorer
for the winning team, boasting
a 190 single game. He was sup-
ported by Arnold' Belinsky,
Richard Singer, Herbert Gold-
stein and William Ginsburg.
Pool doubles honors were
taken by Jack Liederman and
Norman Licht of AZA Chapter
63, and singles by Don Cole of
the same chapter.
The regional debating award
went to Louis Wolfson and Earl
Kulp of Grand Rapid Chapter 5.
They will represent Michigan in
district competition to be held
at Minneapolis in the spring.

set aside for the BBYW's an-
nual fund-raising affair. This
year the event will be present-
ed to the public in the form of
a musical variety show at Moose
Temple on Grand River.
Accepting full responsibility
for the successful presentation

there have been some nice
turnouts at rehearsals, there is
still a great need for girls to
participate in the chorus lines—

or four.
The next sched"led rehearsal
is for 11 a.m., Sunday. All girls,
from every chapter in. the or-
ganization, are heartily urged
to attend and take part in this
gala affair.

Circuit Judge Robert M. Toms,
who recently returned from
Nuremberg, Germany, will be
guest speaker at an open meet-
ing of the Rabbi Mandel M.
Zager Chapter at 8:15 p.m., Wed-
nesday, Jan. 7 at Congregation
Bnai Moshe.
Judge Toms will tell of his
year's experiences as presiding
judge of the United States Mil-
itary Tribunals in Germany. In
addition Miss Lillian Kelter, De-
troit pianist, will present a mu-
sical program.
Mrs. Gertrude Klein is pro-
gram chairman. A social hour
will follow the program.
Members of the Rabbi Mandel
M. Zager Lodge will be guests
at this meeting, Miss Fay Zager,
chapter president, announced.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Bnai
Brith lodges and chapters are
permitted to purchase tax-free
cigarets for distribution to dis-
abled veterans at any veteran
or military hospital in the
United States, according to an
announcement by Lt. Col. Elliott
A. Niles, Boston, chairman of
the service' organization's na-
tional committee on veterans
affairs.
Tax-free cigarets cost approx-
imately six cents a package.
Local Bnai Brith units provide
cigarets for ward parties, enter-
tainment programs and birthday
celebrations for - hospitalized ex-
