County Clerk Hits
Failure to Return
M arria (re Licenses Mizrachi to Hail
Failure of many clergymen to
return marriage licenses to the New Jewish State

office of the county clerk will
cause great inconvenience and
unnecessary litigation for thou-
sands of married couples, Edgar
M. Branigan, Wayne county
clerk, said.
Marriage license laws require
that officiating clergyman fill
out the marriage license and re-
turn it within 10 days after the
ceremony.
"An examination the last six
months indicates that about five
percent of, the marriage licenses
issued have not been returned.
In other words, there is no of-
ficial record that the parties
were even married," Branigan
said.
Branigan also emphasized that
great care should be taken in
filling out the license forms.

Members of Mizrachi and their
friends will gather at 8:30 p.m.,
Saturday, in the social hall of
Bnai Moshe to celebrate the
establishment of a Jewish State.
Pavel Slavensky, Cantor of the
Northwest Hebrew Congrega-
tion, will be guest artist, and
Rabbi Isaac Stollman, president
of the Central Mizrachi Region,
will be principal speaker.
Morris Snow, president of
Congregation Bnai Zion, has an-
nounced the enrolling of the
entire membership in Mizrachi.
Philip Stollman, chairman 'of
Mizrachi's Shekolim campaign,
and Sol Chinitz are organizing
a city-wide drive for next week.
