Another first in campus activi-
ties will be marked by Wayne
University Hillel when it joins
the University's Interfaith Coun-
cil in sponsoring a Chanukah
convocation at 1 p.m., Wednes-
day, in the Maccabees auditor-
ium.
Featured on the program will
be the lighting of the Menorah
by a Hillel student, with the
University Choir singing a selec-
tion of festival songs and an-
thems. Greetings will be given
by Dr. David Henry, president
of the university, and Dr. Jay
Sherman, faculty counselor of re-
ligious activities.
Guest of honor will be Rabbi
Harry Essrig of Grand Rapids.
Born in Palestine, Rabbi Essrig
has served as director of the Ilil-
lel foundations at the University
of Chicago and Harvard Univer-
sity. Ile has also served as as-
sistant staff chaplain of the Ninth
Air Force. •

of a tradition on campus for the
annual celebration of Chanukah.
