Zionists Emphasis.
the Need for Support

NEW YORK — Realizing that
the Hebrew language will as-
sume greater importance than
ever before because of UN ac-
tion on the creation of a Jew-
ish state in Palestine, the Zion-
ist organization has issued a call
for the support of Ilebrew in
America.

The ZOA national office asked
New York districts to help make
the annual banquet of the His-
tadruth Ivrith of America a re-
sounding success. Dr. Emanuel
Neumann, president of the ZOA,
will be the main speaker at the
banquet, to be held Dec. 7 at
the Hotel Astor.

The memorandum said, in
part: "Every enlightened Zion-
ist knows that Zionism and He-
brew must go hand in hand if
we are to emerge a people with
all the attributes of nationhood."

Jorge Garcia Granados, Gua-
temalan member of UNSCOP,
has paid. special tribute to the
revival of the Hebrew language
among the Jews in Palestine.

Granados emphasized that one
of the most remarkable things
he saw in Palestine was the fact
that "all Jews speak Hebrew. In
Palestine there are no Sephard-
im or Ashkenasim. Because all
speak Hebrew, they are all true
Jews and Palestinians."

"Itadoar," the only Hebrew
weekly in the world outside of
Palestine, commented editorially
on the statement by the Guate-
malan diplomat, saying, "Senor
Granados, as a member of the
United Nations Special Commit-
tee on Palestine, has realized
what a good many Jews seem to
have forgotten, that Hebrew is
part and parcel of Zionism, of
the rebirth of the Jewish state."

During the years since Grandfather Fred Sanders established

has become a symbol of quality in good-things-to-eat. Old

fashioned perhaps, it is in keeping with the homely gen-
