The midwestern council of
Young Israel will hold its 17th
annual convention in St. Louis,
Nov. 27-30. Charles T. Gellman
of Detroit is president of the
organization.
The council is composed of
Young Israel branches in De-
troit, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Chi-
cago. Kansas City and St. Louis .
Headquarters will be the Ham-
ilton-Wilshire Hotel.

Any boy or girl between the
ages of 15-19, who is a member
of a Young Israel youth group,
is eligible to enter, and the
Detroit eliminations will be held
Sunday. The winner is awarded
an all-expense-paid trip to the
convention in St. Louis. Second
and third prizes will be awarded
to the Detroit entries and there
are awards for the winner and
runner-up in St. Louis.
The Detroit delegation to the
convention will include Mr. and
Mrs. Charles T. Gellman, David
I. Berris, Frances Berris, Ruth
Bodzin, Hillel lr. Abrams, Harold
Platt, and Rabbi Alvin M. Pop-
lack, executive director of the
local Young Israel branch.
