MAYOR JEFFRIES proclaimed
Nov. 13 as "Bnai Brith Day"
in honor of Pisgah Lodge's 90th
anniversary celebration.
"The signing of the proclama-
tion by Mayor Jeffries is a his-
tory-making event," said Harry
Yudkoff, general chairman.
"It is the first time in 90
years that Bnai Brith in Detroit
has been officially recognized by
proclamation and has had a day
dedicated to it."
The proclamation reads as fol-
lows: "WHEREAS. Bnai Brith, a
world-wide Jewlsh ' service or-
ganization has devoted the 104
years of its existence to philan-
thropic, cultural, civic, patriotic
and humanitarian activities, and
"WHEREAS, Bnai Brith was
first established in Detroit
through the founding of Pisgah
Lodge No. 34 on Nov. 18, 1857,
and since its inauguration thou-
sands of Bnai Brith members are
now represented in 15 local
lodges, and
"WHEREAS, Bnai Brith is
celebrating the 900 anniversary
of Pisgah Lodge No. 34 on Nov.
18, 1947
"NOW, THEREFORE. I, Ed-
ward J. Jeffries, Jr., Mayor of
Detroit, do hereby proclaim,
Tuesday, - Nov. 18, 1947, BNAI
BRITII DAY
to the end that Bnai Brith and
Pisgah Lodge No. 34 may re-
ceive the congratulations and
best wishes of all people as a
means of encouraging its con-
tinued patriotic and humanitar-
ian endeavors."
Herbert Eskin, president of
Pisgah Lodge, upon receiving
the proclamation officially ex-
pressed the gratitude of Pisgah
in being recognized by the
mayor and City of Detroit.
"Mr. Mayor," he said. "in ac-
cepting this proclamation, wz

troit Bnai Brith Council and
the Order of Bnai Brith are
ever grateful to you and the
City of Detroit for bestowing
upon us this honor in recogni-
tion of 90 years of patriotic and
humanitarian service to our
great land and fellow men.

tasks and sacred endeavors to-
gether with other freedom-low
ing people to build a better
world in which to live."

ON TUESDAY evening, Nov. 18,
Pisgah Lodge No. 34, Bnai
Brith, will celebrate its Nine-
teenth Aniversary with a banquet
in the Fountain room of the Ma-
sonic Temple.
