Friday, September 26,'1947 DETROIT JEWIRII CHRONICLE Monsky Memorial to Be Established Page Seven Aids Relief Group Bnai Brith Highlights WASHINGTON, D. C. — Steps toward the establishment of a Henry Monsky Foundation "de- voted to Bnai Brith and general purposes" as a memorial to the late Bnai Brith president were announced by Frank Goldman, Lowell, Mass., president. A campaign committee is being organized, consisting of the en- tire executive committee and such others as they may select. For the duration of the Henry Monsky Foundation campaign, no competing drive in Bnai Brith will be conducted. Ever since Mr. Monsky's death on May 1, suggestions for vari- ous memorials in his honor have been pouring into national Bnai Brith headquarters here. Presi- dent Gold! ian therefore appoint- ed a special sub-committee of the executive committee, headed by vice-president Benjamin Sam- uels, Chicago, an intimate friend of the late Mr. Monsky, to con- sider these proposals. In the discussion, it was was brought out that a Berry Monsky Foundation would not only serve many causes dear to the late Bnai Brith President's heart, but could also establish some of the very projects pre- viously suggested as memorials. As long ago as 1941, at the triennial Bnai Brith convention in Chicago, Mr. Monsky had pleaded for the establishment of a Bnai Brith foundation with purposes similar to those embod- ied in the present action. A mo- tion in favor of creating such a foundation was passed at the convention, but its implementa- tion was postponed because of World War 1T.
