Rickenbacker Council Candidate Page 'Thirteen Spurs Zion Aid William J. Rickenbacker, 'of 13334 Prest avenue, is a candi- date for Common Council. A disabled veteran of World War I, Rickenbacker ran for a council post in ?939, being de- feated by a slight margin. He is a self-educated man who operates his own business at 5735 Cass avenue. Rickenbacker was born in New York City, where he at- tended public school. He is a sports enthusiast and at one time was dirt-track racing cham- pion of Michigan and Ohio. As part of his platform, Rick- enbacker has a plan to alleviate the housing shortage and to speed up transportation in De- troit.
