6. Transition. The transition
from elementary school to junior
high, from junior to senior high,
from senior high to college calls
for adjustment in most children.
The crowds, new faces, new
teachers, new programs cause
confusion. When parents see
their children floundering, they
should be ready to give or seek
help for the child in meeting
the new status.

HEALTH. Study is hard
work, taxing body and mind.
The high-school age is marked
by serious bodily and mental
changes, with important emo-
tional involvements. Guidance
from parents and professional
help both go far to furnish the
child with a solid school foun-
dation.
If there are physical defects,
such as poor vision, hearing,
bodily ailments, these should
be corrected before school starts.
I shall have additional sug-
gestions next week. In the
meantime I extend to all of you
best wishes for the New Year.

Mizrachi Sisters
Give Refugee Aid

Mrs. Sarah H. Honigman,
member of the Sisters of Zion
Mizrachi, sponsored the club's
first luncheon and linen shower
recently for homeless European
refugee children.
Mrs. Rose Singer, president,
presided at the luncheon and
Mrs. Isaac Rosenthal, president
of the child rescue fund, spoke.
Contributions may be made by
calling Mrs, Joseph H. Kunin,
TY. 4-2481.
Mrs. Janet Goldsmith is chair-
man of the journal for the donor
luncheon to be held Nov. 5 at
Shaarey Zedek. Mrs. Morris
Mondrow is chairman of the
luncheon and Mrs. Rose White-
man is raffle ticket chairman.

an adult. By time college is
reached, the student should have
ample study habits, well-fixed.
All previous training should
point to self-dependence, matur-
ity, self-direction, self-criticism
and goals set by the child alone.
The pressures should be inter-
nal, not external.
It is criminal to permit an
able child to work at less than
capacity or to require an aver-
age child to meet parental
standards far beyond ability
