100 Millions in community Property
Vanish in Reich, Survey Discloses
NEW YORK—Of 500,000 Jews
who lived in Germany .before the
Nazi regime, only a few thouSatid
are still alive; of 1,600 Syna-
gogues, almost none are left; , and
Jewish communal property once
valued at about $100,000,000 has
vanished.
These are some of the high-
lights of a comprehensive report
on Nazi destruction issued by the
American Jewish Committee fol-
lowing a three-year survey cov-
ering 1,050 communities by the
American Federation of Jews
from Central Europe.
