and asked where the son • of
Choni Hameaggel lived. They
answered that Choni's son was
no longer alive, but that his
grandson was.
He then revealed, "I am Choni
Hameaggel," but they would riot
believe him. This disheartened
him so greatly that he prayed
to God for death, and so he died.
(Many authorities explain
this story as referring to Is-
rael in Babylonian exile.)

The Bnai Brith vocational ser-
vice bureau cautions that the
fact that a school may have no
Jewish students or very few
Jewish students is , not necessarily
indicative of discriminatory prac-
tices on the part of the schools.
Jewish students, who come large-
ly from urban areas, tend to
gravitate to the larger schools
through their own choices.

The proportion of Jewish stu-
dents enrolled in schools for
men only fell from 10.2 per cent
in 1935 to 4.6 per cent in 1946.

The proportion in women's col-
leges declined from 11.8 to 8.4
per cent. On the other hand,
the proportion of Jewish stu-
dents in coed schools rose from
7.2 to 9.4 per cent.

His Handicaps

The marriage of Gertrude
Stulberg and Herbert Rosen, to-
tally blind war veteran, was per-
formed July 1 by Rabbi Morris
Adler.
The groom is a 28-year-old
veteran who was blinded when
his tank was blasted by German
artillery. Since his return from
service, Rosen has established
the H. Rosen Scrap Iron and
Metal Company.
By cheerfulness and congeni-
ality, Rosen has overcome his
handicap and has won the ad-
miration of his friends and busi-
ness associates.
