women's amateur golf champion-
ship at Franklin Hills Country
Club Sept. 22-27.
The tournament, sponsored by
the United States Golf Associa-
tion, is the foremost women's
golf event of each year, and since
the withdrawal of last year's
champion, Mildred "Babe" Did-
rikson Zaharias from amateur
ranks, is being termed "wide
open."

chairman locally and Oscar A.
Kaufman is vice-chairman. Hon-
orary chairmen for the event are

Simons and Franklin Hills presi-

more than 2,400 orthodox, con-
servative and reform Rabbis.
Taking cognizance of the criti-
cal plight of Europe's 1,500,000

for "the fullest moral and ma-
terial support" to the United
Jewish Appeal in its drive to
effect the speediest reconstruc-
tion of the homeless Jewish peo-
ple abroad, the council an-
nounced, through its president,
Rabbi William F. Rosenblum,
that it is joining in sponsorship
of the observance.
