BY VIRTUE OF special per-
mission from the William Cagney
Studios, Sylvia Sidney has been
enabled to desert Hollywood for
a brief period to make a stage
tour in Maxwell Anderson's stir-
ring drama, "Joan of Lorraine"
which was one of the top-gross-
ing hits of the recent N.Y. sea-
son . . . Miss Sidney and "Joan"
open July 28 at the Shubert
Lafayette Theater.

The AZA laddies journeyed to
Cleveland for the Ohio-Michigan
AZA tourney where they partici-
pated in athletic meets and so-
cials . . . Chuck Levy, the di-
rector, kept a watchful eye over
the boys.
Picnic plans are being made by
the Sigma Kappa Tau gals for
July 27 at Walled Lake.
This is an idea in making .. .
About 50 fellows have banded
together to draw up plans for a
club for the younger element. The
building to be occupied will have
a health club, swimming pool
and dining and dancing facilities.
Membership will be limited at
the start to 300. Your reaction

on Sale in August

Featuring six water color re-
productions of Elias Newman,
American artist, the new art
calendar for 5708, spopsored by
the National FederatioM of Tern-
pie Sisterhoods, will be put on
sale in August. '
The paintings are representa-
tive works of Newman which he
made on trips to France, Pales-
tine, Mexico and Massachusetts
fishing villages. Also included
in the calendar are memorandum
pages, space for noting the day's
activities and the dates of im-
portant holidays.
