Dr. Herbert I. Kallet was ele , :1-
ed 29th president of Temple Beth
El at the 97th annual dinner meet-
ing May 26. Other officers named
were Nate S. Shapero, vice-presi-
dent, and Harry S. Grant, treasur-
er.
The following were elected trus-
tees for a three year term: Ralph
A. Mayer, Leon S. Wayburn, Da-
vid ‘Vilkus and Julian G. Wolfner.
Walter S. Heavenrich was elect-
ed honorary trustee.
Trustees whose term do not
expire are Sidney J. Allen, Sylvan
Groaner, Harry A. Hyman, Henry
Levitt, Lawrence J. Michelson, Da-
vid M. Welling, Joseph M. Welt
and Benjamin Wilk.
The following /will serve as ex-
officio members: Mrs. Maurice
Klein, president of the Sisterhood;
Arthur L. Coulson, president of
the Men's Club, and Leonard T.
Lewis, retiring president of Beth
El.

Dr. Kallet has been affiliated
with the congregation for the past
26 years, serving as chairman of

the cemetery board, trustee, vice-
president of the Temple and chair-
man of the religious school com-
mittee.
He is chief of the department
of proctology at Harper Hospital
and associate professor and head
of the proctology department at
Wayne • University.
Leonard T. Lewis, out-going
president, reported that the mem-
bership of the Temple is now over
1400, the largest in its history and
one of the largest In the country.

CHICAGO—The newly organized
Licentiate Conservative Synagogue
recently welcomed its newly
elected spiritual leader, Rabbi
Gershon' G. Rosenstock, formerly
of Detroit and Ann Arbor.
The Synagogue is the first con-
servative Synagogue in the larg-
est Jewish section of Chicago. It
is a national project sponsored by
the Chicago Council, United Syne-
gogue of America.
The Synagogue has made great
