A united front will be sought
with the council as the rabbinic
spokesman, the Union of Ortho-
dox Jewish Congregations as the
congregational outlet and Yeshiva
University, New York, as the edu-
cational fountainhead.
Fair treatment for labor, adop-
tion of a federal FEPC, the ad-
mission of displaced persons to
this country and the expansion of
public health programs were ad-
vocated.
A statement declared that relig-
ious-minded people "cannot toler-
ate labor-baiting and red-labeling
as a mask for an assault on the
honest gains of the trade union
movement."
Asserting that "the synagogue
knows no class distinction," it
said that "we believe that every
synagogue should serve the work-
er in a craft or trade or shop
along with the employer, the pro-
fessional worker and the intel-
lectual." The council's readiness
to "join with other religious agen-
cies in the achievement of a larg-
er measure of social justice" was
announced.
FRANKFURT, (JTA)—Posters calling on the Jews to
start a "march to Palestine" have appeared in the Munich
area and reportedly in many other parts of the American
zone where displaced Jews are billeted. The placards were
signed by "The Executive Committee in Germany for the
March to Zion."

VIENNA, (JTA)—The beating
and robbing of a group of Roman-
ian Jewish refugees at the Hun-
garian-Austrian border by Austri-

group reached Vienna.
They said that on April 23 a
group of policemen arrested 58
men and women near Kurzraab.
The Jews were detained for two
days during which they were fed
only bread and water.
The police stole cigarets and
clothing which the refugees had
obtained from the Joint Distribu-
tion Committee in Budapest. They
beat Eva Segel, a pregnant wom-
an, said Baruch Koenigh, from
whom they also stole a pair of
