man said that the Arabs would
demand an immediate Assembly
recommendation that Britain estab-
lish Palestine as an independent
republic with equal rights for all
citizens.
This plan, diplomats were quick
to point out, would amount to an
award of Palestine to the Arabs
since they are in the majority.
The diplomats declared that there
was little likelihood that the Arab
plan would succeed.
Great Britain's right to sit on
the investigating commission for
Palestine to be set up by the
Assembly, unless the Jewish Agen-
cy is also represented, was chal-
lenged by the American Jewish
Conference.
In a communication to Acting
Secretary of State Dean Acheson,
the Conference asked the support
of the United States for the pro-
position that either all parties di-
rectly concerned with the Pales-
tine situation should be included
on such a commission, or else,
that all be excluded.
"On no other basis," the letter
said, "would it be possible to ob-
tain all relevant facts and points
of view without distortion and
without injury, in particular, to the
interests of any of the parties
directly concerned."

1,000 Return to Poland
to Start Life Anew

First Large Group to Come Back;
Warsaw Halts Emigration of Jews

WARSAW (JTA)—More than 1,000 Polish Jews who
fled this country last year have returned to explore the pos-
sibilities of permanent resettlement. IIundreds of them have
passed through the Czech-Polish border town of Zebrzydo-
wice en route from DP camps in the U. S. zone of Germany.
Most of the returnees hope to settle in Silesia. Their

families are remaining in the
camps until they can ascertain
whether it will be possible for
them to establish permanent resi-
dence and secure employment in
Poland. Their arrival represents
the first reversal in the trend to-
wards Jewish emigration from
Poland.
Meanwhile, Jewish groups are
expecting the arrival shortly of
the first transports of the 15,000
Polish Jews who are to be re-
patriated from the Soviet Union
under an agreement negotiated
last month between the Polish
and Soviet governments.
The Polish security ministry in-
formed a conference ,of Jewish
leaders that further illegal emigra-
tion will be halted. The move is
believed to have followed renewed
British presure on the govern-
ment to halt the • movement of
Jews to Palestine as well as for
,aernal reasons.

excerpt from an article in the
Anglo-Jewish press in March, 1947,
by William Zuckerman, a con-
firmed Revisionist-baiter: "Revi-
sionism has won a great victory
in Palestine and outside it. What
the late Mr. Jabotinsky and his
followers advocated for 15 years
has now become the unofficial
program of the Zionist movement.
"The ideology, principles and the
acts of the Revisionists are now
the determining factor in the Zi-

including the United States. Any-
one who closes his eyes to this
fact is ignoring reality."

Britons Threatened
After Hate Expose

LONDON (JTA)—The editor of
Reynolds News, a Labor newspa-
per, and one of its columnists,
Tom Driberg, a member of Par-
liament, have received thrdaten-
ing notes from fascists following
their recent expose of a revival
of fascist and anti-Semitic activi-
ties in Britain.
The notes threatened that the
newspaper "offices will be de-
stroyed and a pointed Star of Da-
vid will be deeply seared in your

Heil Hitler."
Police are making investiga-
tions into the activities of fascist
groups particularly in Leeds, which
