Units to Hear
Marie Syrkin

Beth El Awaits
Judaism Institute

Renowned Rabbis
to Give Addresses

Marie Syrkin, American educa-
tor and author, will be the guest
speaker at a citywide meeting of
the Labor Zionist Organization at
8:30 p. m., Thursday, April 24 at
Temple Beth El. She will be the
first speaker at a series of cul-
tural and educational meetings
cf the LZOA.
Miss Syrkin has just returned
after visiting Palestine and study-
ing the conditions of European
Jews. Her appearance will serve
to launch the expansion and mem-
bership drive of the Detroit LZOA,
according to Morris Lieberman,
chairman of the central commit-
tee, and Mrs. Norman Leeman,
chairman of the membership com-
mittee.
On four successive Sundays, be-
ginning with April 28, committees
will visit prospects with the view
of enrolling them in the Laboi
Zionist Organization as part of
the national membership drive.
Miss Syrkin, daughter of Dr.
Nachum Syrkin, pioneer Zionist
philosopher and writer, has
achieved note in educational cir-
cles as the author of the book,
"Your School and Your Child."

Judaism at Temple Beth El which
opens at 10:30 a. m. Monday. All
Detroit Rabbis, ministers and re-
ligious educators have been in-
vited to attend.
The institute is sponsored by
Beth El in association with the
Detroit Council of Churches, the
Detroit Pastor's Union and the
Council of Religious Education.

"The Meaning of Henry Ford's
Life" will be the subject of the
sermons to be delivered by Rabbi
Leon Fram at the Sabbath Eve
services of Temple Israel at 8:3C
p. m., April 25 in the Institute of
Arts.
At this service, Guy Barron
son of Mr. and Mrs. S. Brooks
Barron, will celebrate his Bar
Mitzvah. The Barrons will be
hosts to the congregation follow-
ing services.
Temple Israel High School

place Friday, May 2, and the
Confirmation service will take
place Saturday, May 24.

Rabbi Wasserman

Rabbi Simcho Wasserman, dean
of Yeshivath Beth Yehudah who
returned last week from Europe
after a 10-months' leave of ab-
sence, will be welcomed at a spe-
cial meeting of the Yeshivah
board at 8:15 p.m. Thursady.
Rabbi Wasserman served as a
special officer of UNRRA in
France, Poland and Czechoslova-
kia. He worked with Chief Rabbi
Herzog of Palestine.
