ALWAYS 'INTERESTED in politics, Levinson played an impor-
tant part in the Prentss M. Brown campaign for senator in 1942.
After the campaign, he was taken to see Edward W. Pauley, then
treasurer of the National Democratic Committee and today American
Reparations representative. Levinson left the office as Pauley's
assistant.
Senator Brown, Jimmy Byrnes and he were summoned to the
White House. Levinson then met the late president for the first time.
"There was a man with personality," he declared.
Levinson evinced his loyalty and admiration for his President
and mentor by naming his son born June 23, 1946, Franklin Edward,
Franklin for Roosevelt, Edward for Pauley. He also has a daughter
Judy.
In the last Roosevelt campaign, Levinson was instrumental in
organizing the campaign radio fund and helped in raising over
$250,000.
