The move came about as a re- sult of charges lodged at a World Mizrachi Rescue Conference that the Vaad Hatzalah discriminated against European Mizrachi mem- bers In meting out relief supplies. The conference heard 50 Mizra- chi representatives representing more than 12,000 Mizrachl and Ha- poel Hamizrachi members file complaints that religious DP's were evidently being starved out in an effort to force them into the ranks of the Agudas Israel move- ment. LAUNCH CAMPAIGN American Mizrachi has launched an Intensive, nationwide campaign known as the "United Rescue and Rehabilitation Fund" which is un- der the joint supervision of the Mizrachl Organization, the Miz- raehl Women's Organization, and the Hapoel Hamizrachi. The Vaad Hatzalah, in answer to the Mizrachl Charge stated that since its inception in 1939, all in- structions transmitted to its Eu- ropean representatives stress the importance of distributing Vaad Hatzalah funds ofr the religious welfare of Jews impartially and without regard to party affili- ations. The Vaad Hatzalah knows noth- ing about the instances of dis- crimination specified In the Miz- rachi report, it said. It is con- tinuing to give aid to religious groups abroad irrespective of Aguda or Mizrachi affiliation, it declared, adding that the Vaad Hatzalah has just issued a report to UNRRA Indicating the estab- lishment of over 48 religious schools and kosher kitchens in the DP Camps.
