Albert Einstein:
Genius of the Age

Page Thirteen

After Two Thousand Years

(Continued from page 3)
figure. Just 24 years old, Ein-
stein was showered with honors.
He was invited to lecture first
at the University of Leyden,
then at Bern University.
He became professor of physics
at the University of Zurich, and
later he accepted a post on the
faculty . of the University of
Prague. Thus began his phenom-
inally successful career.

FLED FROM NAZIS
EINSTEIN WAS professor at
the Academy of Sciences in Ber-
lin at the time Hitler came to
power and he was forced to flee
from persecution. Prior to this he
had been accorded world-wide
recognition with the Nobel prize
In 1922 and numerous other
awards.
It is said that before he left
Germany Prof. Einstein lived in
an ivory-tower world, but the
Einstein that we know today is a
man who has become vitally con-
cerned that science be used
for the benefit of mankind.
He Is also actively Interested in
the problems of his own people
and has been an ardent Zionist
for many years.
Today Einstein's name is used
as a measure of greatness. He is
regarded everywhere with awe
and reverence. But this very adu-
lation has proven a stumbling
block in his relations with most
people, who always feel ill-at-ease
in his presence.
It is for this reason that he
seeks the company of young peo-
ple who lack conventional polite-
ness and know nothing of his
scientific theories.
