A king and queen will be chosen
by Danny Raskin to reign at the
second annual semi-formal dance
of the Inter-Synagogue Council
of Detroit. The affair will be held
from 9 to 12 p. m. Saturday,
March 22, at Temple Beth El.
Music will be furnished by
Tommy Marvin and his orchestra.
Hal Bossy, former Latin Quarter
M.C., will entertain.
The council is composed of rep-
resentatives of Shaarey Zedek,
Temple Beth El and Temple
Israel.

Mr. and Mrs. Max Littman an-
nounce the birth of a daughter.

has left on a motor trip to Florida.

the Lee Crest,have left for a West
Indies cruise. They will be gone

thal, Jr. and son Edwin III will

pany Gerhard Pechner, bass-
baritone of the Metropolitan
Opera who will appear Satur-
day evening, March 29; at the
Jewish Community Center under
the auspices of the Center's mu-
sic committee. Pechner has per-
formed In Europe under such
musicians as Bruno Walter,
Richard Strauss, Fritz Busch
and Erich Maher. Mrs. Nathan
Simons is committee chairman.

Cincinnati, will speak on "Mod-
ern Palestinian Poetry" at a Kvu-
tzah Ivrith gathering Saturday
evening, March 22, in the Rose
Sittig Cohen Bldg.

MRS. BELLE J. GOLDSTEIN,
national president of the Miz-
rachi Women's Organization of
America, has been honored by
the dedication of 1,000 trees In
her name in Palestine. The cere-
mony was held simultaneously
with the planting of 10,000 trees
in the Mizrachi Women's Forest.
The group, which has a mem-
bership of 35,000, is sponsoring
45 projects in Palestine.

"Panel of Americans," a group
of six young women from the
University of California at Los
Angeles under the leadership of
Dr. G. Byron Done, professor of
sociology there, will be presented
by the Detroit Urban League at
8 p. m. Monday, at league head-
quarters, 208 Mack avenue.
The girls represent different re-
ligious faiths and varied national
and racial backgrounds. The pro-
gram Is designed to promote good-
will.
