the activities of semi-secret anti
Jewish organizations following re-
cent attacks on synagogues and
the proclamation of a "war on
Jews" by Victor Burgess, who was
recently released from internment.
The detectives have established
that the center of anti-Jewish
activities is situated in the Edg-
ware and Burnt Oak districts,
where the population is nearly 50
percent Jewish. ,
Anti-Jewish incidents in this
Mir area have become so frequent
that Jewish veterans have set a
24 hour guard around synagogues.
Jewish residents have been threat-
ened and entire streets plastered
with anti-Jewish stickers and post-
ers bearing slogans such as "Jews
must go," or "War on the Jews."
The Scotland Yard men dis-
covered that mist of the anti-
Jewish activities were the work
of a gang known as the "North-
West Task Group for Racial De-
fense." A 22-year-old former pub-
lic school teacher is the acknowl-
edged leader.
The aim of the organization, as
stated in membership cards given
dues-payers, is to "operate against
forces of Jewry in the life of
Great Britain and to oppose parti-'
cipation of any Jew in British
public life."
The gang has adopted a motto
of the Nazi underground which Is
printed on the membership cards
in German: "Wir kommen wie-
der," meaning ''We shall return."

hemia has forced the government
to retake possession of a factory
which had previously been re-
stored to Emil Bear, a Jewish in-
dustrialist whose property had
been confiscated during the Nazi
occupation.
The strikers protested that Bear
had been engaged in Germanizing
Czech industry before the war and
that he had lived in London dur-
