Dear Editor:
The movie, "Song of the Sduth,"
which is being shown In Detroit,
is a definite insult to everyone
who believes in the democratic
process.
It is a caricature of the Negro

We in America must support both.
Therefore, we urge the people of
Detroit to protest the showing of
this film.

Shot In The Arm

The formation within a few weeks of
each other of two new chapters for Zion-
ists with youthful ideas is a hopeful au-
gury for Zionist advancement here. It
is part of a nationwide trend to enlist
more young men and women in, taking
an' active •part in Zionist promotional, edu-
cational anti political activities.
Thousands of young people have been
in sympathy with Zionist ideals, but aside
from paying their annual dues and at-
tending a Balfour Ball or two, few have
joined actively in the movement, partly
because of the lack of vision and inertia
of the elders of the organization. Things
are changing on the Zionist front, hap-
pily, and the realization that the Wises
and the Goldmann's have, in recent years,
had a deleterious effect on Zionist prog-
ress has turned the spotlight on men of
courage and imagination and with a
youthful outlook.
Dr. Abba Hillel Silver is the prophet
of the new 'Zionism and young people
throughout the country are flocking to
his banner because he negates everything
flabby, meek and indecisive in the move-
ment. He champions a militant stand in
the battle for the Homeland, demands
fulfillment of Britain's and America's
pledges and advocates the use of political
pressure on those in high places who are
dodging those pledges.
This is a realistic platform and young
American Jews understand it because it
is in accord with American principle and
the American way of doing things.
The new Haifa Chapter of young peo-
ple in the professions which was instituted
last Monday and the Northwest University
Chapter which was launched so auspici-
ously only Thursday face a challenge—
a challenge to lead through enterprise
and achievement and to act with vision
and daring.
The leadership of both chapters is in
the hands of dynamic People with en-
thusiasm and fresh ideas. The two chap-
ters, we are certain, will be communal
and social successes, but they are destined
to be exemplary only because of their
program of action. We wish them great
success because on its depends.much of
the future of Zionist activity in Detroit.
