Aviv Jews Beaten
by dritish who Make
Them Run the Gantlet

TEL AVIV (Palcor)—Borrowing a page from the
Nazi book of cruelty and public humiliation, British po-
lice here last week herded 70 male residents of the
Montefiore quarter, including invalids and the aged, and
forced them to run to 'the Sarona police station, where
according to eyewitnesses, they were compelled, within
sight of the German colony, to run a gantlet between
hundreds of British troops and police who tripped them,

TEL AVIV (JTA) — Da-
vid Ben Gurion, chairman
of the Jewish Agency execu-
tive, is returning to London
to resume discussions with
British Colonial Minster Ar-
thur Creech-Jones. Ben Gu-
rion returned to Palestine

from Britain last week to consult
with Jewish leaders here.
The Agency chairman said that
there was only a very slight chance
that the Zionists would participate
in the London conference, which
is due to resume next week, but
if they did, Dr. Chaim Weizmann
would be included in the Jewish
delegation, although he is no
longer a member of the Zionist
executive, he added.
TALKS CONTINUE
Ben Gurion said that although
It was likely that the London con-
ference would be sold), an Anglo-
Arab meeting, this did not indi-
cate a severance of relations be-
tween the Zionists and Britain.
Discussions with Britain, as well
as with every member nation of
the United Nations, would be
pressed in an effort to secure a
final decision on the Palestine is-
sue as soon as possible, he added.
The Palestine government an-
nounced officially that the Pales-
tine Arab Higher Committee has
been invited to send a delegation
to the London conference. Imme-
diately after the announcement,
the committee decided to accept
the bid.
Meanwhile, additional British
troops arrived in Palestine from
Egypt. The arrivals, who are un-
derstood to comprise a brigade,
are the vanguard of the BriTish
Third Division which is in the
process of being transferred here.
KEEP FEDERAL PLAN
A British military spokesman in
Cairo, queried as to whether the
troops are being moved into Pal-
estine to crush "terrorism" in ex-
pectation of a final solution of the
Palestine problem, evaded a di-
rect answer, but asserted that the
final decision will be a modified
version of the federalization plan,
it is reported by the Arab press.
Corroboration came from an-
other source, when the Hashomer
Hatzair newspaper Mishmar quo-
ted "reliable sources" as stat-
ing that the Colonial Office is pre-
pared to accept administrative par-
tition of Palestine, but not Jewish
statehood in part of the country.
