Benny Fields Heads
Norma Wittelshofer,
Law Student. Engaged New Show at Bowery

Announcement has been made
of the betrothal of Norma Wit-
telshofer, daughter of Mrs. Monte
Wittelshofer of Boston boulevard,
to Richard Mintz, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Herman Mintz of Brookline,
( lass.
Miss Wittelshofer was graduated
m Miss Newman's School and
a senior at Connecticut College
for Women.
Mintz, who served as a lieu-
tenant In the Naval Air Corps,
studied at Andover and is in his
final year at Harvard law school.

Lieberman Named
Rubin Club President

Larry Lieberman was elected
president of the Rubin Family
Social Club at a meeting Dec.15 at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Rubin of Sturtevant avenue.
Other officers are Irving Sacks
and Buddy Jacobson, vice-presi-
dents: Diana Kazin, secretary, and
Dorothy Lieberman, treasurer.

Mr. and Mrs. Felix Mahler will
leave Dec. 25 for Miami Beach,
Fla.

Vacationing In Miami Beach,
Fla., are Mr. and Mrs. Albert
Fuchs.

Mrs. Lewis B. Daniels enter-
tained at tea Dec. 14.

Benny Fields "the Famous Min-
strel Man", is starring in the new
show at Frank Barbaro's Bowery.
Fields has several distinctions on
his record. He
was the original
"crooner" a n d
his song styling
set the pattern
for many an-
other singer. He
was the first
star to adopt
the intimate
style of singing,
now accepted by
every night
club singer.

He made the first use of a mega-
phone and established that vogue
and did more than any other en-
tertainer to popularize "Melan-
choly Baby," the song that has
been associated with him all dur-
ing his entertainment career.
"Minstrel Man," in which he
turned in a great performance,
was his first real venture in films.
His great Bowery supporting
cast includes Frankie Rapp, com-
edy master of ceremonies; Zurko
and Nilda, artistic ballroom danc-
ers; the Royal Whirlwinds, thril-
ling trick roller skaters; Leon
Collins, sepia tap dancer; the
popular tenor; Eddie Jerome; the
Jumpin' Jivers; the fascinating
swing songstress, Lillian James;
the Aurora Roche-Carlyle Dancers
and others.
