Nazi Survivors Have Reunion in Ohio Job Counseling
Offered at Center

Frances G. Gould, Jewish Vo-
vational Service Group counselor,
will be at the Jewish Center two
evenings each week to assist in
group vocational and educational
guidance programs.
Persons interested in job coun-
seling, career or school planning
and training may also consult her.
Miss Gould was a special inter-
viewer at the advisory center of
New York University before join-
ing the vocational service staff.
She has studied at McMaster Uni-
versity, Canada, Columbia Univer-
sity, Ontario College of Education
and has had experience in teach-
ing and vocational guidance in
Canada. No fee is charged.

greeted by Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Bloch, who had resettled in the
Ohio city just a few days previously. Both families entered the
United States under President Truman's new immigration directive.

NEW YORK—Over $110,000 was
netted for the United Jewish Ap-
peal at the "Night of Stars" put
on by top performers of stage,
screen and radio Tuesday night at
Madison Square Garden.
Among the artists who enter-
tained the 20,000 spectators were
Ray Bolger, Charles Laughton,
Ethel Merman, Basil Rathbone,
Mickey Rooney, Lionel Hampton,
Fred Waring, George Jessel, Mil-
ton Berle, Bert Wheeler, Henny
Youngman and Betty Garrett.
These stars have been perform-
ing in sell-out shows on Broadway.
They donated their extra time
from their regular work to help
the UJA.

NEW YORK—Mrs. David de
Sola Pool, past president of Ha-
dassah, has been named chairman
of the children's gifts campaign
for the purchase of new clothing
for Soviet war orphans, it was an-
nounced by Louis Levine, national
president of the Jewish Council
for Russian Relief.
"As we turn our thoughts to
the giving of gifts to our own
happy American children," Mrs.
de Sola Pool declared, in a letter
to more than 1500 organizations
affiliated with the council, "it be-
hooves us not to forget the chil-
dren of other lands who look to
us hopefully again this year as in
the past. There are millions of
Soviet boys and girls. looking ea-
gerly to us, not for candy and
parties, but for basic foods, for
new clothing and undergarments
to cover and protect their bodies."
